You have a right to an interpreter
If English is not the language you want to use for medical decisions, Chrisalys Surgery will arrange a qualified interpreter at no cost to you for appointments, informed consent, and other significant communications. This is part of our Section 1557 obligations and, more simply, how consent works.
A family member may sit with you. A family member is not a substitute for a qualified interpreter in a surgical consult, especially for genital or facial surgery where precision matters and privacy is uneven at a kitchen table.
How to request one
When you schedule or call (310) 247-4729, tell us:
1. The language (including American Sign Language). 2. The appointment type (consult, pre-op, follow-up, hair-removal series). 3. Whether the visit is in person at 436 N Bedford Drive, Suite 202, or virtual.
Please give us as much notice as you can. Same-day interpreter coverage is not always possible; we would rather move a consult than proceed without understanding.
Spanish is commonly requested in Los Angeles. We still book a qualified interpreter rather than assuming a staff member is free and certified that hour.

We can provide important documents in other languages or read them with an interpreter. Website translation widgets are not a clinical interpreter. Do not rely on a browser translate for consent forms.

Insurance and interpreters
Do not skip a consult because you think language will be billed as a luxury. Interpreter services for care are not a cosmetic add-on. If a plan tries to treat them that way, tell us.
